Oracle Databases

Introduction of Oracle Database:

Oracle is one of the power databases in the world. In Oracle database there is collection of data treated as a small no. of units. The main aim of the oracle database is to store and retrieve related information with high rate. Oracle database servers have lot of information about solving the problems of information management. A server reliably manages a large amount of data in a multi user environment so that many users can concurrently access the same data.

Oracle database server also prevents unauthorized access and provides efficient solutions for failure recovery of the database. The Oracle Database is the first database designed for enterprise grid computing, the most flexible and cost effective way to manage information and applications. Enterprise grid computing creates large pools of industry standard, modular storage and servers. With this architecture, each new system can be rapidly provisioned from the pool of components. There is no need for peak workloads, because capacity can be easily added or reallocated from the resource pools as needed. We can use oracle database for every type of organization no matter with strength of the organization. Oracle database can entertain every type of organization it is providing services to all types of organizations.

All databases have minimal feature sets and only store data, while others include programming languages, facilities and utilities to support enterprise-level applications like ERP and data warehousing. Oracle is the No. 1 database and has the most advanced feature set.

Oracle is made up of a set of processes running in your operating system. These processes manage how data is stored and how it is accessed. I will cover these processes in detail in the future; but for now we just need to understand that Oracle is a program that is running in the background, maintaining your data for you and figuring out where it should go on your hard drive.

Oracle launched different versions of database time by time with some extra feature that are given below.

Oracle Database Versions List:

•Oracle v5

•Oracle v6

•Oracle7

•Oracle Database 8i

•Oracle Database 9i

•Oracle Database 10g

•Oracle Database 11g

Supported Operating Systems:

  • HP-UX
  • Windows
  • Linux
  • Sun Solais

Oracle Certification Program:

Oracle offering different exams for Oracle users. Initially when user can done major papers then he get different tags from Oracle Corporation. There are three main level of certification that are given below.

There are main four edition of Oracle Database:

  • Enterprise Edition

The Enterprise Edition is defined with respect to physical cores and a processor core multiplier.

  • Standard Edition

The Standard Edition can run on up to four processors but has fewer features than Enterprise Edition.

  • Standard ONE

The standard edition basically for one computer with no. of user that is on PC.

  • Oracle Express Edition (Oracle XE)

Oracle Express Edition provide only 4 GB Data space and can work only on one CPU.

Oracle Tools:

There are no. of tools available that are using oracle database that are given below.

Oracle Database by default Schema:

In Oracle database after installations a default schema called SCOTT. After the installation process has set up the sample tables, the user can log into the database with the username scott and the password tiger. In oracle default schema Scott have some tables there are many schemas also available in oracle database by default.

  •  SYS
  • SYSTEM
  • SCOTT
